FODIP Newsletter September 2020 We would like to wish all our Jewish friends and supporters Shana Tova and well over the Fast. This week, we were privileged to welcome Zahed Amanullah, Resident Senior Fellow at the Institute of Strategic Dialogue (ISD), as guest speaker of our AGM. Zahed outlined some of the far right manifestations of Antisemitism and Islamophobia as revealed currently through ISD’s continuing research. It made chilling hearing, but Zahed was optimistic about the possibilities of the disappearance of some of these groups. The Q & A session afterwards was particularly helpful. A link to the presentation: https://youtu.be/4aliBOKrKV8 Also at the AGM, we said farewell to Revd Bob Day who stepped down as co-Chair. He has been involved with FODIP since its beginnings and promised to remain involved and active in our work. Tributes were paid to him for his support and commitment since the very first FODIP Study Tour, after which he became a trustee and then, eventually co-Chair. Dr Jane Clements was elected in his place as co-Chair alongside Rabbi Warren Elf. We are about to commence some online programmes which will include topics such as ‘’How to speak about Israel/Palestine without importing the conflict’, including training in facilitating such dialogue, and ‘Why is this Land so important?’ So watch this space! With all good wishes, The FODIP team Please note our current postal address is: Manchester Multifaith Centre Unit 18, the Wesley Centre, Rayne Road, Manchester M15 5BP Thank you for your continuing support From the FODIP Team |
