We wish all our Muslim Friends and Supporters Ramadan Kareem HRH Philip, Duke of Edinburgh We extend our condolences, in company with so many others, to the Royal Family on the death of His Royal Highness Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Prince Philip valued and promoted inter faith dialogue. In 1986, he set up the Association of Religions and Conservation (ARC), inviting leading figures from the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish traditions to Assisi, in Italy. The aim was to discuss how religion could promote actions to save the natural world. He chose Assisi because it was the birthplace of St Francis, the Catholic saint of ecology. Below: one of the last gatherings of ARC, at Windsor. Prince Philip believed that interfaith dialogue should concentrate on those areas we had in common, rather than speak about those aspects which tend to divide us. Nevertheless, on two occasions I had the privilege of hearing his views and suggestions for dialogue; his commitment and concern were impressive and a great inspiration. His was a life of devotion – to causes dear to him, to the future of the earth and of humanity, and above all to his wife and family. He leaves a considerable legacy.
