Dear TalkMatters Supporters,
I’ve just returned from Israel after visiting some of the incredible initiatives that TalkMatters supports. Even in a climate of deep uncertainty and fear, the passion for bringing people together shines through all the inspirational leaders that I met.
By happy chance, I witnessed this togetherness on a grand scale in Haifa. I watched the Taalatat Adra procession in which Maronite and Greek Orthodox (Melkite) scouts and clergy march side-by-side – two distinct traditions united by shared faith and heritage. The journey up Mount Carmel, framed by the breath-taking Baha’i Gardens, serves as a living testament to TalkMatters . From the Aramaic chants of the Maronites to the Baha’i message of global peace, the streets of Haifa offered a powerful vision of unity. A masterclass in coexistence.

A particularly important meeting took place at Bet Hanania on the south edge of Mount Carmel close to Zikhron Ya’akov. I had come to visit the Freddie Krivine Initiative (FKI) – the initiative that brings Arab and Jewish children together to play tennis. As I arrived at the club house, there was laughter and happy faces as the young people from the local Arab and Jewish villages met up again for their regular tennis and after school activities.
I was at the FKI to finalise with Director Lee Wilson and Community Coordinator, Riham Namle their visit next month to the UK. Riham and Lee are speaking in places of worship, the House of Commons and at TalkMatters first-ever fundraising event.

Meet Lee Wilson and Riham Namle at our event in June
