Dear TalkMatters Supporters,

Save the date:  Sunday 21st June, Cumberland Tennis Club (off Finchley Road), Strawberry Cream Tea.

Join us to celebrate six “roller coaster” years of partnering grassroots cooperative initiatives. From music and ecology to hi-tech and religion, we have spent the last six years bringing Israeli Jews and Arabs face-to-face to build a shared future.

To mark the occasion, we are delighted to host Lee Wilson and Riham Namle from the Freddie Krivine Initiative (FKI). The FKI brings Arab and Jewish children together to learn, play tennis, and to simply have fun – proving that sport has the power to unite.

In true pre-Wimbledon spirit, we will enjoy a classic strawberries and cream tea in what promises to be an afternoon of inspiration and meaningful conversation.

Looking forward to seeing you in June.

In the meantime, I have been in discussion with many groups including Association of Jewish Refugees and the Christian Friends of MDA.

A particular highlight was attending the BBC Religion and Ethics 2026 Showcase. The overarching theme of the event struck a chord with our work here at TalkMatters: that true social cohesion is born from a dual process of appreciating different cultures while reflecting deeply on our own traditions.

BBC World Service features Oasis of Peace in a radio programme

We’re delighted that Oasis of Peace has been featured on the BBC World Service’s Heart and Soul programme. The programme is now available to listen to online.

This radio programme offers a valuable opportunity to share the story and message of Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al-Salam and the work we support –  demonstrating that Jewish and Palestinian communities can live, learn, and lead together in equality and mutual respect. Media moments like this are vital. They allow us to reach new audiences, deepen understanding, and highlight practical models of peace-building at a time when dialogue and hope are urgently needed. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to amplify the message that cooperation between people of different backgrounds and faiths is possible. Please pass the link on to your friends and colleagues.

 Vivian Silver Awards

SUNDAY 22ND MARCH, 4 P.M. NW LONDON VENUE

TalkMatters is partnering with the New Israel Fund for the Vivian Silver Awards on Sunday 22nd March.  Vivian Silver was murdered by Hamas during the massacre of her kibbutz, Be’eri, on 7 October 2023.   Vivian was a universally admired Jewish Israeli peace activist who advocated for Palestinian rights.

Vivian Silver worked with many of the initiatives that TalkMatters supports including Women Wage Peace, the interfaith grassroots organization created by Arab and Jewish Israeli women and Road To Recovery, a large group of volunteer Israeli drivers going to and from the checkpoints to take Arab children and their guardians to Israeli hospitals.
