The second of a series enabling TalkMatters Associates to participate and benefit from collaborating. The December webinar “Challenges of teaching and coping with difficult discussions about Israeli-Palestinian issues in the UK and in Israel-Palestine” was facilitated by Sharon Booth, the Founder and Executive Director of Solutions Not Sides.
Sharon introduced the techniques and methodology used by Solutions Not Sides. After her presentation, Associates spoke about challenging situations they encounter in and out of the class room when talking about Palestinian-Israeli issues. Small break-out groups allowed the conversations to continue before re-grouping to share best practice on solutions to the challenges described. Solution Not Sides offers non-partisan educational sessions in the UK on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The programme enables young people to meet Israeli Arabs and Israeli Jews and focuses on possible solutions based on understanding both sides’ narratives. The aim is to shift attitudes away from supporting one side against the other, and towards seeking a solution for the human beings involved Solutions Not Sides.
