About the Freddie Krivine Tennis Initiative

“Sport has the power to change a nation because sport has the power to inspire”

Nelson Mandela

For over 20 years the Freddie Krivine Initiative (FKI) has helped to break down stereotypes by bringing Jewish and Arab children together through their interest in tennis. Several thousand disaffected Arab Israel young people from some of the most socio-economically disadvantaged villages in Israel have enjoyed playing tennis with their Jewish Israeli counterparts over the last twenty years.

About our speakers

Jane Krivine is the CEO of the Freddie Krivine Tennis Initiative.  Jane was in the classical music business before she left London to live in Israel in 2004.  Since 2005 Jane has managed the Freddie Krivine Tennis Initiative, the vision of her late father Freddie who was President of the Israel Tennis Association.  His dream was to see an Arab Israeli play at Wimbledon. And to that end he built and supported tennis courts and programmes in predominantly isolated Arab neighbourhoods.

Lee Wilson is the Director of the Freddie Krivine Tennis Initiative. She is a professional specializing in Jewish-Arab relationships and peace work. With a background as the Director of International Communications for Peace Now and as a coordinator in the Peace Coalition under the leadership of Dr. Yossi Beilin, Lee has played a pivotal role in raising awareness and support for coexistence initiatives. Now with Jane and Riham, Lee continues to champion the cause, spearheading innovative projects that promote understanding and harmony, including after school programmes and shared society summer camps.

Riham Namle is the Social Activity Manager of the Freddie Krivine Tennis Initiative.  Riham holds a BA in Criminology and Human Resource Management and has worked for a real estate company, at  Amnesty International Israel and for the Haifa Municipality.  Now Riham’s responsibilities include initiating and planning activities, liaising with educational and government institutions, social media marketing and maintaining direct contact with parents.

Since October 7th our associate organisations have continued their important work enabling Jewish and Palestinian Arabs who are citizens of Israel and Palestinian Arabs in the Palestinian Territories to meet, talk and build relationships.  Now it is more vital than ever to support their work.  They are the people who are building up trust for the next generation.

And it is important too for us here in the UK to meet Palestinians and Israelis.  Listening to these people helps us to question our own views and to cut out the divisive tone of the current debate and present a more nuanced message of eventual peace, equality and security for all.
